From Chris The first finished 2-mile stretch of the East Colfax bus-only lanes opens later this month, running through Broadway to Colorado Boulevard. This is an interim milestone rather than the finish line, with full BRT service across the whole corridor still expected in 2027. Routes 15 and 15L will begin using the dedicated bus lanes between Pennsylvania Street and Colorado Boulevard with level boarding starting that date, aligned with RTD's September service changes. |

 | Older Coloradans Are Turning to the “Golden Girls” Housing Model to Fight Costs, LonelinessAs Baby Boomers age, increasingly they want to age in place. Who wouldn't want to stay in their own home if you can, for as long as it's safe. Denver has seen a steadily increasing number of seniors who wish to age in place, but for many reasons, are not able to. Enter Sunshine Home Share, a non-profit that's helping older homeowners fill up their extra bedrooms with people who want cheaper rent in exchange for doing household chores. Sunshine Home Share's room-mate matching service pairs aging Coloradans who own homes with people looking for a bedroom to rent. Tenants get a break on rent in exchange for doing household chores, like taking out the trash or mowing the lawn. It helps older people who can no longer handle the upkeep of their homes, or who are lonely, and at the same time, offers a solution for people who can’t afford Colorado’s rising rent costs. It’s a service that’s growing more popular as Coloradans age. CO is the third fastest aging state in the nation with more than 25% of Colorado’s population projected to hit age 60 and older by 2050. | | Driverless Waymo Cruises Through Denver Farmers MarketWaymo car was navigating to a route on South Pearl St. when it entered the farmers and started cruising market area taking vendors aback when it began cruising through the area during set up. “Fortunately, (the Waymo) was traveling the correct flow of vendor setup and went slowly, avoiding all obstacles,” Farmers Market and Event coordinator, Marilyn Kahlich said. “No one was hurt, there wasn’t any damage, no one felt in danger.” But organizers also didn’t know how to stop or redirect the Waymo, and had to follow the car while shouting warnings to others nearby that it was coming, Kahlich said. A Waymo spokesperson said the autonomous car was already navigating to a destination on South Pearl Street when the farmers market setup began on Sunday. The Waymo quickly identified the situation and maneuvered out of the market area, the spokesperson stated. |
